Workshop. Open Mic, and Jam Session

Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Carole King, Aretha Franklin, Joan Baez–these are just a handful of the singer songwriters who have shaped our musical and cultural landscape with their songs, lyrics, and storytelling. Jake Gunnar Walsh leads a new class on how to take your original songs and make them as powerful and expressive as they can be.  Learn about the history of the singer-songwriter tradition including the social/political impact this genre has had through many different cultures globally.  Instruction will feature a combination of songwriting workshops as well as guest masterclasses with singer-songwriters in the Ithaca community.  Our Fall term will culminate in a free public recital of new original songs and will be professionally recorded.

Open to the community!  This class is for anyone with musical experience and for those that want the experience of learning how to compose and have never had musical training prior..
