Jessica Caporizzo

Piano instruction

Having had the joy of studying music with wonderful and inspirational teachers, Jessica Caporizzo hopes to pass on that same passion to her own students. Open to working with any age, Jessica seeks to promote an excitement for every aspect of music, by encouraging individuality and expressivity, as well as building and strengthening the fundamentals of reading, theory, technique and performance. Jessica has been playing the piano ever since she was five years old, sitting next to her dad on the bench. Inspired to fully embrace her passion for piano in high school, she soon became fascinated with the art and psychology of performance, moving on to win and place in local and statewide competitions.

She obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance with Carolyn True at Trinity University and continued her studies in performance with Jennifer Hayghe at Ithaca College for her Master of Music degree. After she graduated, she spent a month in London, traipsing the English countryside and studying with lecturer-performer Karl Lutchmayer at the Trinity-Laban Conservatoire of Music. Having worked as a full-time teacher and administrator at the Musical Arts Center of San Antonio, Inc. from 2013 – 2015, Jessica is thrilled to be back in the Ithaca music scene as a teacher, performer, and collaborator. In addition to her musical teaching and activities, Jessica is also a certified yoga instructor and is eager to become active in Ithaca’s yoga community as both a practicing student and a teacher.
