Mark Lewis

Violin & Viola instruction

Hailing from Queensbury, NY, Mr. Lewis picked up the viola in 5th grade, and has been playing music ever since. Mr. Lewis graduated in 2005 from the Crane School of Music with a BM in Music Education and Viola Performance and he earned a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Florida in 2009. Mr. Lewis has a strong classical background and has performed with orchestras in New York, Florida, Georgia, and abroad in France and Italy. He has also performed in many recitals and master classes including classes by Pinchas Zukerman and Hank Dutt (Kronos Quartet). Mr. Lewis has served as interim conductor of the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra and has conducted numerous All-County Orchestras in New York State. He has extensive experience teaching elementary and middle school orchestra including several years at Queensbury UFSD and South Colonie CSD. Currently, Mr. Lewis resides in Ithaca, NY teaching grades 6-8 in the Ithaca City School District. When not teaching music, he is likely to be seeing live music, traveling, or playing music with friends.
