Teen Music Theory and Aural Skills

This course is for students with prior musical experience of private instrumental/voice lessons and/or ensemble membership seeking to deepen their music theory, music literacy, and aural skills. This course will be tailored to the individual needs and goals of the participants. It will continue to build musical skills through singing, playing, reading, writing, dictating, and composing a variety of notes and rhythms in straight and syncopated combinations in simple and compound meters. Participants will learn and utilize solfège and study a variety of intervals, chords, scales, and keys. This course will include a variety of musical genres to explore and learn score analysis, sight-reading, conducting patterns, music terminology, different forms of music, composers, and historical musical time periods.
