Kodály Camps

Grades K-1

Students will begin to develop their musical skills and understanding through songs, games, and creative activities! They will explore the foundation of musical literacy and aural skills by developing their singing voice, internalizing the beat, and experiencing musical comparatives (high vs. low notes, fast vs. slow tempos, long vs. short rhythms, etc.).

This camp is an introductory experience for students to begin to develop their musical foundation and understanding through the Kodály methodology. Students will begin to develop their musical skills through songs, games, and creative activities! They will explore the foundation of musical literacy and aural skills by developing their singing voice, internalizing the beat, and experiencing musical comparatives (high vs. low notes, fast vs. slow tempos, long vs. short rhythms, etc). Students will participate in a variety of activities that build their listening and singing skills through visual, aural and kinesthetic experiences. Utilizing musical materials, classroom instruments, and body percussion, students will learn an array of songs in varying meters, tempos, and keys. Students will further their musical skills and understanding through songs, games, and creative activities! They will build upon the foundation of musical literacy and aural skills by continuing to develop their singing voice, incorporating solfège, and reading and writing beginning notes and rhythms.

This camp is an opportunity for students to further their musical skills and understanding through songs, games, and creative activities! They will build upon their foundation of musical literacy and aural skills by continuing to develop their singing voice, incorporating solfège, and reading and writing beginning notes and rhythms. Students will participate in a variety of activities that build their listening and singing skills through visual, aural and kinesthetic experiences. Utilizing musical materials, classroom instruments, and body percussion, students will learn an array of songs in varying meters, tempos, and keys.
