Please note: Songwriting is not running this semester at Opus Ithaca.
EMILY GOLDMAN, instructor
In this class, we’ll explore several common songs forms in a variety of genres and styles – from pop to theatre to art song -and challenge ourselves to write something new each week, according to a given set of parameters.
Every session will include discussions of lyrics, musical building blocks, and arrangements, as well as listening examples and peer critique of the songs we’re working on. There will also be opportunities to collaborate and perform each others’ work. Each Workshop cycle will culminate in an informal showcase.
WHO: 14+ including adults; Open to vocalists and instrumentalists (piano and guitar preferred) with some experience…but don’t worry if you haven’t written much in the past!
WHERE: Opus Ithaca – 402 N. Aurora Street
WHEN: Saturdays from 12pm-2pm beginning February 11th (not meeting on Feb 18th)
